Yoga for stress

I was so prepared to do a post a day when I started on this blog and as you can probably see, it is not working out that way. I recently switched anti-depressants (thank you Zoloft for the excessive weight gain) and I have only just gotten my own sense of calm back. It is taking me a bit longer to regain my sense of self and just overall well being. I have put together a sequence that I am using at the moment to reconnect with myself and manage stress, I hope it helps you as much as it has helped me.

Child’s pose:
Benefits: calms mind and aids digestion.
Great pose for assessment season.

Legs up against wall pose:
Benefits: Quiets and clears the mind, also very calming.
Wonderful pose for hard times. I love doing this one right before bed.

Reclined twist:
Benefits: Calming
I normally do this to slowly wake up my core in the morning. You can make this an active pose by twisting with each breath.

These three poses are the best for calming the mind (in my opinion).
